Please note that this suit is not in wearable condition. It has significant discoloring and moth holes. There is dry rot in the shoulder pads. Some parts of the lining are shattered/beginning to shatter.
The style is….just amazing. Its a gorgeous suit. The buttons!
Very typical of the era. This suit is 1940s (confirmed not just by silhouette but also the union tag in the coat).
This piece would be great for display. Possibly for a film photo shoot (with touch-ups/filters). I suspect this suit would be best for a collector and/or pattern-maker. I would personally love to have this suit recreated!! If a pattern-maker does purchase it, I’d happily pay for a pdf of it 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I purchased this suit from an online charity estate sale that was clearly run by idiots. They did not disclose any damage, so I purchased several items that were damaged beyond repair. It was a disheartening experience, so I am being quite Frank with this listing. I do not have the space (or patience, let’s be honest) to store vintage pieces that cannot be worn.
For reference, my dress form has a 34” bust and a 26” waist. The jacket fits her quite well but the skirt is too tight for her.
Skirt waist measures 25” and closes with a metal side zip and button.
