Untitled DocumentEdwardian Blue White Wool Woven Twill Tweed Hounsdtooth Plaid Dress & Scarf Shawl
This antique Edwardian era blue and white wool woven twill tweed houndstooth plaid dress and scarf shawl dates from 1918. It is made of a handloom woven wool with a navy blue and off white cream color twill weave tweed fabric houndstooth checkered plaid pattern. The woven wool fabric is reminiscent of the early 19th century hand loom coverlet bedcovers blankets and is seamed down the back of the skirt. This wonderful womens winter two piece outfit has a loose fitting long floor length maxi dress with an attached blue cotton sleeveless squared neckline top, decorative cross stitch embroidered edging hemline skirt and is unlined. The dress measures 52 inches long, with a 38 inch chest, 34 inch waist and 48 inch hips. Included is a matching fabric long stole scarf shawl with decorative whip stitching edging, cross stitch, blue yarn fringe trim edgings. The shawl measures 72 inches long, with an additional 4 inch long fringe trim on each end and is 13 inches wide. It is in good condition, with only some faint white spots on the blue cotton top (see close-up). This is truly a unique and handmade piece of wearable art!
